Children's graduation

Carousel would like to thank all parents and children that attended the graduation. An excellent evening was had by all.

The children just showed us how ready they are for school by participating in all the new songs they had learned and confidently individually collecting their certificates.

We wish all children the best of luck in starting Primary1 and good news is that a lot of our children starting P1 will be returning to our club house after the summer.

See some of our great moments of learning, more pictures are displayed on our planning walls.

Can parents please ensure that your child is equipped for all weathers, especially in this warm weather that you ensure that in your child’s bag has sun cream and a hat.

The nursery has up-dated the transition packs that supports parents and children’s room move. The packs have a more in-depth information on your child’s settling in visits and highlight more clearly when parents will be collecting their child from their new room.

Getting It Right For Every Child (GIRFEC) is a big focus within the nursery and this follows the Scottish Government Guidelines.

These guidelines are in place to ensure we are putting the child or young person at the centre and developing a shared understanding within and across agencies.

The wellbeing indicators give staff a clear understanding in how to embed this practice and it consists of eight areas called SHANARRI (Safe, Healthy, Active, Nurtured, Achieving, Respect, Responsible and Included). The staff work with all areas throughout the month, but have been going more depth with the children about being RESPONSIBLE.

The nursery improvement plan 2015/16 will be focusing on embedding the GIRFEC practices and attainment in literacy and numeracy. More information will be given during the coming months.

You can keep up to date with everything that is happening in the nursery by following our carousel face book page.

Isabel Barrie the 2-3 room supervisor had a great success when making peppermint creams. This recipe she would like to share, please if parents/carers or grandparents have any recipes please email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

Ingredients

  • 1lbs of icing sugar
  • 8-9 tablespoons of condensed milk
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint creams
  • 1 teaspoon of green food colouring
  • Chocolate for when mixed is set.

Mix together into a playdough texture, then roll out. Using a small cutter cut until all mixture is done. Place in the fridge for about 2hrs until set.

Melt the chocolate into a bowl, then dip the mint creams into it. Place on a tray cover with grease proof paper. Put in the fridge to set the chocolate.
